President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Monday (03/13) inaugurated Kesiman Kertalangu Integrated Waste Management Facility (TPST) in Bali provincial capital Denpasar.

“This integrated waste management facility is the first waste management I have seen that uses a simple system but produces concrete results,” he said.

According to the President, waste management at Kesiman Kertalangu TSPT is very good and organized.

The President also urged all regencies and cities in the country to copy the facility’s waste management system.

“I want this integrated waste management [system] to be copied by other cities and regencies across the country, so waste management will not be an issue to our cities and regencies,” he said.

President Jokowi stated that Kesiman Kertalangu TSPT can serve as an example for other cities and regencies because it has clear operational budgets and its waste management system is organized.

“We want to have just one example of proper management. The system is flexible. It can be the same system that is used in this integrated facility. It can be waste pellets. It can be maggots. It is already operational,” he said. (FID/UN) (DH/MUR)
