President Jokowi Inspects Construction Progress of Sepaku Semoi Dam

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Wednesday (06/22) inspected the construction progress of Sepaku Semoi Dam in North Penajam Paser regency, East Kalimantan province. The dam has a storage capacity of 10 million cubic meters of water to provide bulk water in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN).

According to Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing’s Director General of Water Resources Jarot Widyoko, the construction progress of the dam has reached 56 percent and it is targeted to complete in early 2023.

The Dam, Jarot added, will provide 2,500 liter of bulk water per second. It means that the dam will not only supply water requirements in the IKN and the Central Government Core Area (KIPP), but also in the East Kalimantan port city of Balikpapan.

In addition, the intake of the dam is also under construction. The intake will provide three thousand liter of bulk water per second and it is targeted to complete in December this year so that in February 2023, the intake will provide approximately five thousand liter of bulk water per second.

Furthermore, Jarot expressed his belief that the construction of the supporting infrastructures for the IKN will complete on target, in 2023.
