President Jokowi Inspects Food Prices at Palembang Traditional Market
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Thursday (10/26) visited Sekip Ujung traditional market, Palembang city, South Sumatra province to check food commodity prices.
In his statement after the inspection, President Jokowi said that price stability and inflation are in good condition.
“The prices are stable, good. Inflation is also 2.28 [percent] which is also very good. It is under control,” said the President.
He also pointed out that the prices of several food commodities is quite good, one of which is the price of rice.
“For rice, the price is Rp54,000 for 5 kilos, which is also under control,” he said.
Even though there are commodities that have increased in price, such as chilies, the President said that overall food commodity prices in the area are still well.
“Only chili price that is high from normally Rp40,000 per kilo to Rp70,000. This issue needs to be addressed but in general the prices are good,” said the President. (BPMI/UN) (EST/EP)
