President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Thursday (10/03) visited State Vocational High School 1 Kalabahi in Alor regency, East Nusa Tenggara province.

During the visit, President Jokowi inspected several classrooms and facilities. He also observed the quality of various majors in the vocational school, such as computer and network engineering and commercial shipping.

“I see that students are encouraged to be active, for example in the computer network major, the lessons are properly taught in a practical manner. The commercial shipping major also has excellent practice rooms,” the President said after the inspection.

The President also reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to assist in improving the school’s quality.

Afterward, the President conducted an interactive dialog with the students on the school field. In the session, he asked several questions about the Pancasila ideology to the students and motivated them to continue to learn diligently.

“My dear children, study well, study hard, study well, so that you can achieve your goals successfully and do well,” he said, which was followed by lively applause from the students.

Meanwhile, Head of the vocational school Idalita Laure, in a separate statement expressed her honor and appreciation for the visit. According to Idalita, she and her students did not expect to have the honor to meet the President in the school.

“When I heard that the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Joko Widodo, was visiting Alor Regency and the State Vocational High School 1 Kalabahi, I was so moved that I shed tears. Alor is a very small region that is hardly recognizable on the map, but Mr. President chose to visit Alor and the school,” Idalita said.

She also added that the visit is expected to spur the enthusiasm of the students and teachers at the vocational school to continuously improve the education quality.

“We are delighted and extremely honored to receive your visit, especially since you want to see the learning process taking place in the classroom. That is a very big honor for all of us,” Idalita said.  (BPMI Setpres/ABD) (FI/LW)
