President Jokowi Makes Short Visits to Singapore, Malaysia

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and First Lady Ibu Iriana Jokowi Wednesday (06/07) departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, for short visits to Singapore and Malaysia.

“Today, the First Lady and I, as well as a limited delegation, will conduct short working visits to Singapore and Malaysia, on June 7 and 8, 2023,” President Jokowi said in a press statement prior to the departure.

In Singapore, the President is slated to speak at the Ecosperity Week 2023. The forum, organized by Temasek Foundation, will have a wide range of attendees, including investors, academics, and the government.

“In this meeting, I will seek to promote investment, especially in the fields of energy transition, green infrastructure, and also on the construction of the Nusantara Capital,” he said.

In the afternoon, the President will head to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for a reciprocal visit as well as to fulfill the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

“We will make use of this visit to finalize several important negotiations that have been going on for years and have not been completed, namely the border and Indonesian migrant workers protection issues, as well as other important matters,” the President said.

The President is scheduled to return to Indonesia on Thursday (06/08) evening. (FID/UN) (FI/MUR)
