President Jokowi Meets PM of Papua New Guinea
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Wednesday (07/05) visited Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Haus during his overseas working visit to Papua New Guinea.
Upon arrival, President Jokowi was warmly greeted by the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea James Marape followed by the ‘Hiri Moale’ welcoming dance.
Afterwards, the two leaders headed to the second floor of APEC Haus for a tête-à-tête meeting.
Before entering the meeting room, PM Marape introduced several of the country’s government officials, namely Deputy Prime Minister-cum-Minister of Immigration, Border and Land Affairs John Rosso, Minister of Fisheries Jelta Wong, Minister of Health Lino Tom, Minister of Agriculture Aye Tambua, Minister of Education Jimmy Uguro, Minister of Higher Education Don Polye, Minister for Coffee Joe Kuli, Minister for Palm Oil Francis Maneke, Minister for State Enterprises William Duma, and Minister of Transportation and Civil Aviation Walter Schnaubelt.
After the tête-à-tête meeting that lasted for about 35 minutes, President Jokowi and the delegates then held a bilateral meeting with the Government of Papua New Guinea.
At the end of the bilateral meeting, both leaders witnessed the signing of Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Higher Education Sector by Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi and Papua New Guinea Minister of Higher Education Don Polye.
