President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Monday (05/13) officiated the implementation of Presidential Instruction on Regional Roads in West Muna regency, Southeast Sulawesi province.

The implementation is part of the Central Government’s effort to improve infrastructure quality in the province.

“By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, this afternoon I hereby declare the implementation of Presidential Instruction on Regional Roads in West Muna regency and all corners of Southeast Sulawesi completed for 2023,” he said.

Furthermore, the Head of State pointed out that the development and improvement of infrastructure are part of the Government’s commitment to enhancing the mobility of people and logistics and improving the people’s life quality.

“Last year, in this province, 22 road segments have been constructed and repaired with a budget of Rp631 billion, including two road segments in West Muna regency that used a budget of Rp42.4 billion,” he said while underscoring that good road infrastructure development is essential to ensure transportation and logistics distribution efficiency, which will, in turn, affect the local economy significantly.

“Indeed, some road segments are not yet proper. They will continue to be repaired this year because, on a national scale, Rp14.6 trillion was allocated last year, and this year, for road repair and construction, the allocation is Rp15 trillion,” he said while expressing hope that the project will be well-executed and improve the mobility of people and logistics.
