President Jokowi Pays Homage to Mahatma Gandhi

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo along with other G20 leaders, Sunday (09/10), paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Gandhi Samadhi, a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi, in Rajghat, New Delhi, India.

The event is included in the series of the G20 Summit, in India.

Upon arrival at Rajghat at 09.00 local time, President Jokowi was welcomed by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. Both leaders then took a group photo with Hriday Kunj, the residence of Mahatma Gandhi, in the background.

Afterwards, President Jokowi signed a peace wall with other leaders before heading to the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial. At Mahatma Gandhi Memorial, he paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi and laid a wreath at Delhi’s Rajghat.

After visiting Rajghat, President Jokowi returned to Bharat Mandapam to attend the third session of the G20 Summit and hold several bilateral meetings. In the afternoon, President Jokowi and the entourage departed from India to Indonesia. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (RAS/MMB)
