President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Monday (01/02) at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, received a visit from Chairperson of Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Council (PBNU) Yahya Cholil Staquf.

On that occasion, Chairperson of the PBNU conveyed the follow-up results of the Religion of 20 (R20) forum, organized under Indonesia’s G20 Presidency which was held in Bali on November 2-3, 2022.

“We came to report the success of the R20 forum in Bali that we have constantly followed up on the development since last month, including strengthening relations with religious leaders and the Indian Government. Hopefully, the R20 forum can still be held under India’s G20 Presidency,” Yahya said.

During the meeting, the President urged Nahdlatul Ulama to consolidate intensively in carrying out their duties and facing challenges.

“The President has ordered Nahdlatul Ulama to continuously carry out intensive consolidation down to the base, considering that we will have a lot of tasks and challenges in the future,” he said, adding that Nahdlatul Ulama stands ready to serve and create better relations with the community.

Yahya also revealed that the PBNU has invited the President to attend the 100th Anniversary of Nahdlatul Ulama to be held in Sidoarjo, East Java province that will be also attended by ulemas from several countries.

“We invited Mr. President to attend a number of main events, and alhamdulillah, Mr. President was willing to participate. Hopefully, he will make it. Insya Allah, we will hold a big reception at the peak event of the anniversary at Delta Sports Building in Sidoarjo, and insya Allah, it will be attended by no less than 1 million Nahdlatul Ulama congregations, muslim clerics, and foreign ulemas from around the world,” Chairperson of the PBNU remarked.
