President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Tuesday (12/05) visited Kelapa Lima beach in East Nusa Tenggara province to meet with the local residents.

Upon arrival at 09:10 p.m. Central Indonesian Time (WITA), President Jokowi was welcomed enthusiastically by the people.

During the event, several songs and dance performances were also presented by musicians of Kupang city and local residents.

Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono also played drums and singing on the stage. When a local song Gemu Fa Mi Re was played, the attendees gathered and danced together. The President also joined with the locals and danced shortly.

One of the singers, Inggit Wakano, said she admired President Jokowi since he is a down-to earth person and close to the people.

“We have provided a chair for the President but he prefers to sit on the loudspeaker case. For me, it is amazing for the leader of the country doesn’t mind sitting in such place,” Inggit said. (BPMI Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (GWH/EP)
