President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has nominated Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Yudo Margono as the next commander of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI).

In this regard, Presidential Letter has been submitted to the House for approval.

“We have proposed the new commander to the House,” the President said at the Radakng Traditional House, Pontianak, West Kalimantan, Tuesday (11/29).

On that occasion, the Head of State revealed that the reason behind the appointment of Navy chief of staff Adm. Yudo Margono was to maintain the tradition of rotating the leadership of TNI.

For the record, the TNI Commander today was helmed by Gen. Andika Perkasa who previously was the Indonesia Army Chief of Staff and before Gen. Andika, the TNI Commander was Air Chief Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, from the Indonesian Air Force.

“We are nominating one candidate. He is the current Navy Chief of Staff,” he added.

The Presidential Letter of the TNI Commander was submitted to the House by Minister of State Secretary Pratikno on Monday (11/28).

Furthermore, Navy chief of staff Adm. Yudo Margono will soon undergo a fit and proper test at Commission I of the House. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (RIF/LW)
