President Jokowi Tells Regional Leaders to Keep Inflation Stable
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Tuesday (08/13) stressed that attracting investment and keeping inflation stable are important. The statement was made by President Jokowi during a meeting with regional heads from all over Indonesia at the State Palace in the Nusantara Capital (IKN), North Penajam Paser regency, East Kalimantan province.
“Attracting investors and building trust are not that easy,” President Jokowi said while underscoring that heads of regional governments must evaluate their administrations and seize their regions’ potential to attract investors.
Thus, the President reminded the regional heads to study the investment model implemented in the IKN, particularly regions that face difficulties to be funded by the Regional Budget (APBD).
President Jokowi also expressed his gratitude to all governors, mayors, and regents across Indonesia for their achievement in controlling inflation rate that has now dropped to 2.13 percent from previously 2.58 percent.
In addition, the head of state urged to speed up the Regional Budget’s realization in order to support people’s purchasing power, considering spending realization is still at 31 percent.
On that occasion, President Jokowi also ordered all heads of regional governments to be well prepared to hold the upcoming 2024 simultaneous regional elections, considering that the elections that will be held in November this year will be the first simultaneous regional elections organized by the Government.
Moreover, the President expressed hope that regional governments all over Indonesia can implement the IKN’s development concept in the regions.
“All of you have observed all sites, including the MBH reservoir, Sumbu Kebangsaan area. You can learn from them and build similar infrastructure in the regions,” he remarked. (FID/DNS) (AP/MMB)
