President Jokowi to Attend Hannover Messe 2023 in Germany

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and First Lady Iriana Jokowi Saturday (04/15) departed for Hannover, Germany to open the 2023 Hannover Messe.

“I will officially open the Hannover Messe with Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz,” said the President before took off from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, in Tangerang, Banten province.

The President stated that Indonesia is the official partner country for the Hannover Messe 2023. The theme for this year’s exhibition is Making Indonesia 4.0.

“The Hannover Messe is the largest industrial exhibition in Europe and Indonesia is the first ASEAN country ever to become an official partner country,” he added.

During this visit, President Jokowi will also hold a bilateral meeting with Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz and hold a meeting with a number of businessmen from the country.

“I will also have a bilateral meeting with the Chancellor of Germany and meet with several businessmen from Germany. Germany is an important trading and investment partner in Europe, the largest trading partner among European countries, and the fourth largest investor from the European region,” remarked the President.

President Jokowi is slated to return to Indonesia on Tuesday (04/18).

Cited from the website of the Ministry of Industry, Indonesia has four main targets for participating in this year’s Hannover Messe: First, to present the Making Indonesia 4.0 roadmap; Second, to promote industrial cooperation; Third, to promote foreign investment and exports; and Fourth, to improve bilateral relations with Germany as the host.

Indonesia is the first ASEAN country to become an official partner country at the Hannover Messe and has been a partner for three times. With the spirit of Infinite Journey at the event which will be held on April 17-21, 2023, Indonesia will present the latest technological advancements and potential industrial technology investments, through organizing related events which are summarized in the official programs. Discussions with co-exhibitors from Indonesia will be facilitated through various agendas, including organizing business summits, as well as seminars that will take place at the Indonesian Pavilion.
