President Prabowo Subianto led a Plenary Cabinet Meeting in the Cabinet Meeting Room, Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Monday (5/5). The meeting was an important momentum to evaluate the first six-month performance of the Red and White Cabinet since its inauguration.
“We gather today to hold a Plenary Cabinet Meeting of the Red and White Cabinet. It is the 6th Plenary Meeting in the first six months of our administration,” the President said while opening the meeting.
President Prabowo emphasized that the first six months of his administration have resulted significant and fundamental achievements to strengthen the foundation of the nation’s revival. He said that, to date, the Government has produced 28 new policies that are directly related to public interests, along with more than 100 or even almost 200 legal products.
“If we take a look objectively, I’d like to say that in the six months of this administration, we have achieved quite significant things, things that are fundamental, strengthening the foundation of our revival as a nation,” he stated.
However, the President reminded of the importance of objective evaluation so that the Government does not feel complacent. He analogized the importance of accuracy in the government like a pendulum or an azimuth on a compass: a slight deviation at the beginning can cause a major deviation in the future.
“If the deviation was slight at the beginning, there would be a major deviation at the end,” he said.
In his remarks, President Prabowo also highlighted the importance of making the 1945 Constitution and Pancasila the main reference in government management, adding that the design of the 1945 Constitution formulated by the nation’s founders was the result of the experience of colonization and oppression.
Let us be honest with ourselves, have we really implemented Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution truly or not? Because in my opinion, our Constitution, the 1945 Constitution is truly an extraordinary product,” he said.
He also appreciated the smooth government transition from President Joko Widodo’s administration to his. He added that consulting with previous presidents was a wise leader’s attitude, as an effort to ask for views and suggestions from those who have had the experiences.
The President also expressed his appreciation to all ranks of the Red and White Cabinet for their cooperation and dedication during the first six months of his administration. He also emphasized that although the intensity of cabinet meetings was not too frequent, the decisions that had been taken could be implemented well and the benefits were felt by the Indonesian people.
“I believe that we can achieve these all because of the good cooperation between us,” the President concluded. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (JAS/MMB)
