President Prabowo Subianto, Sunday (05/04), inaugurated 2F Terminal for Hajj and Umrah Services at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang city, Banten province.

The inauguration took place after the renovation and construction of several terminal facilities were completed. The terminal, designed to meet international service standards and capable of accommodating 6.1 million pilgrims annually, was inaugurated in response to the significantly high demand for hajj and umrah flights.

Upon arrival at the three-storeyed terminal, the Head of State immediately inspected the arrival terminal facilities and greeted hajj pilgrim candidates. Afterward, the President inaugurated the terminal.

In his remarks, President Prabowo stated that Indonesia has a large number of hajj and umrah pilgrims, and therefore, the Government will continually provide the best services to them.

“We understand that many of our pilgrims are elderly, so we must take great care of them,” he said, adding that his administration will strive to reduce the cost of hajj to a minimum so Muslims in the country can easily perform hajj.

“I order the Minister of Religious Affairs, Head of the Hajj Organizing Agency, as well as the Special Advisor to the President on Hajj Affairs to coordinate and find a solution to reduce the cost of hajj,” he said.

In addition to the terminal infrastructure renovation, supporting infrastructure is under construction for umrah activities, including a mosque with an area of 3,136 square meters, umrah lounge with an area of 3,000 square meters, and bus parking lot with an area of 4,158 square meters that is connected directly to the departure terminal.

On that occasion, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir said that President Prabowo has ordered that the hajj must be organized professionally and transparently.

“The President ordered us to organize hajj and umrah by prioritizing the provision of the best services as a form of respect for our own nation,” he said in a report.

For the record, the terminal inauguration is part of the strategic national agenda to strengthen the transportation system and public services based on religious and humanitarian values. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (DH/TM)
