President Prabowo Subianto on Monday (04/14) attended a bilateral meeting with King Abdullah II of Jordan at Al Husseiniya Palace, Amman, Jordan.

In his welcoming remarks, King Abdullah II extended his appreciation for President Prabowo’s visit and highlighted their long-standing friendship, which dates back to their youth as soldiers.

“My brother, on behalf of my family, the entire Jordanian delegation here, and on my own behalf, it is an honor for me to welcome you on your first official visit to Jordan as the President of Indonesia. You and I have had a friendship for decades since we were young soldiers, and that is something I have never forgotten,” the King said.

King Abdullah II also emphasized Indonesia’s strategic role on the global stage, particularly in responding to instability in the Middle East due to ongoing conflicts in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria.

“I truly believe that under your leadership, Indonesia will play an important role for all of us in addressing many challenges,” King Abdullah II said.

On that occasion, President Prabowo expressed gratitude and appreciation for the strong friendship he shares with King Abdullah II. He also acknowledged the good relations between Indonesia and Jordan.

“Jordan has long been a good friend to Indonesia, and we have always felt a strong sense of solidarity with you. Indonesia and Jordan are at the forefront in defending the interests of the Palestinian people,” the President said.

President Prabowo reaffirmed Indonesia’s full support for the Palestinian cause and stressed the importance of seeking a fair and balanced peaceful resolution in the region.

“Indonesia strongly supports the rights of the Palestinian people to be independent and to have their own State,” the President stated.

During the meeting, the two leaders also agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation, including in the sector of agriculture. President Prabowo specifically expressed Indonesia’s interest in learning from Jordan’s advancements in agricultural technology.

“Jordan has advanced technology in agriculture, and we aim to learn from that. My Minister of Agriculture is with me on this visit, and I hope there will be concrete follow-up on all the issues we have discussed,” the President added.

The bilateral meeting is expected to mark a new milestone in the strategic partnership between Indonesia and Jordan — not only at the Government level, but also among the peoples of both nations. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (RI/MUR)
