President Prabowo Subianto and President of Egypt Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Saturday (04/12) signed a Joint Statement on the Strategic Partnership between the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt, at the Al Ittihadiya Palace in Cairo.

The signing of the joint statement marks a significant milestone in the diplomatic relations between the two nations, underscoring the strong commitment of both Indonesia and Egypt to elevate the bilateral partnership to a strategic level.

During the meeting, the two heads of state discussed various strategic issues and the direction of closer and more structured cooperation in years to come.

“The two Presidents held productive discussions aimed at strengthening the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the two countries,” the joint statement reads.

President Prabowo and President El-Sisi also reaffirmed the importance of the historical ties that have long connected Indonesia and Egypt. Both countries are key partners in the Islamic world and among developing nations, and they share a long-standing history of political, economic, and educational cooperation.

“Recognizing the historical bonds that have connected the two nations for decades, the two leaders jointly agreed to elevate the relations to a Strategic Partnership based on the values of justice, mutual respect, and mutual trust,” the statement continued.

Through this strategic partnership, Indonesia and Egypt are committed to strengthening cooperation across various priority areas, including politics, economy, security, defense, culture, education, and people-to-people relations. (BPMI of the Presidential Secretariat) (RI/MUR)
