President Prabowo Subianto Calls for Efficient Use of State Budget
President Prabowo Subianto Tuesday (10/12) called on all ministries, institutions, and regional governments to utilize the State Budget efficiently.
“We must, I repeat, we must, use it sparingly. We must reduce budget leakage. I aim to combat budget leakage at all levels,” the President said during the digital submission of the 2025 Budget Implementation List and Regional Transfer Allocation Book as well as the launch of the Electronic Catalog Ver 6.0 at the State Palace, Jakarta.
The President also ordered the Ministers and officials at the central and regional levels to ensure that the budget is used efficiently, and that unproductive spending be reduced for the sake of the people’s benefit.
“Please cut the budget on ceremonial things. Also, please reduce the budget on things that require extensive studies, seminars, and so on. Now is the time to address the problem directly,” he said, adding that food security is the Government’s top priority since he believes that the nation must guarantee food for all its people.
“I am convinced that no country is safe until it is capable of guaranteeing food for all its people,” he said.
The Head of State also pushed for the development of national food estates down to the village level to realize food self-sufficiency, adding that food estates are a local wisdom passed down by the Indonesian people’s ancestors.
“This is the collective wisdom of our ancestors for thousands of years. We learn that every village and tribe across the country has a food estate,” he said.
The President also highlighted the importance of energy self-sufficiency, citing that only a few countries, including Indonesia, Brazil, and Congo, have the potential to achieve energy self-sufficiency.
“We must be wise in utilizing such gifts and remain prudent. We should not be lazy. And we must break unproductive habits,” he remarked. (TGH/DNS) (GWH/RAS/EP)
