President Prabowo Subianto Receives Peru’s Highest Award, Strengthening Indonesia-Peru Ties
During his official visit to Peru, President Prabowo Subianto was presented with the Grand Cross of the Order of the Sun of Peru by the Government of Peru.
The award was conferred in an official ceremony at the Government Palace in the Peruvian capital of Lima, Thursday (11/14) and was personally handed over by the Peruvian President Dina Boluarte in the presence of high-ranking local officials.
The “El Sol del Perú,” originally known as the “Orden del Sol,” is Peru’s highest honor, awarded in recognition of outstanding service to the nation and its people.
The Grand Cross is typically bestowed upon Heads of State from friendly nations or distinguished international figures whose contributions are universally acknowledged. It also symbolizes strong friendship and mutual respect between Indonesia and Peru.
As one of the recipients of the Grand Cross, President Subianto received a grand necklace adorned with a circle of diamonds that features an 80 mm diameter sun-shaped medallion, embodying the grandeur of “El Sol del Perú.
At the center of the medallion is a disk bearing the relief of Peru’s national emblem, surrounded by red and white enamel with the inscription “El Sol del Perú” and the year of Peru’s independence “1821,” commemorating the nation’s history.
The insignia is also adorned with palm and green laurel branches, symbolizing peace and prosperity of the nation of Peru.
In response to the award, President Subianto expressed gratitude for the recognition of the Government of Peru, while underscoring Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation with Peru across multiple sectors and an even stronger tie in the future.
“This is a great honor. Thank you very much, Madam President,” President Subianto stated in a joint press release. (AY/EP)
