Press Statement of President of the Republic of Indonesia During the Joint Press Statement with President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java Province, May 23, 2023

Assalamu’alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh,

 Your Excellency President Raisi and delegates in attendance,

Welcome to Indonesia.

It is an honor for Indonesia to host President Raisi.

We discussed global geopolitical situations and measures to promote bilateral cooperation. We agreed to continue supporting the struggle of the people of Palestine and tackle the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan by continuing to voice out access to education for women in Afghanistan and to give humanitarian access.

On bilateral cooperation, first, related to the health sector, a pilot project for telerobotic surgery, a pilot project for telemedicine, and collaboration for telemedicine devices in 11 health community centers are ongoing.

I also addressed matters related to technology transfer co-production with Indonesian state-owned enterprises and biotechnological and nanotechnological cooperation in health, energy, agriculture, and environment sectors.

Second, matters related to economy. Today, Indonesia and Iran signed a Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA). I hope it can improve trade between Indonesia and Iran. President Raisi and I also discussed B2B agreement, investment in the development of Nusantara Capital, and solutions to investment in the oil and gas sector.

Finally, related to railway signaling technology, I have expressed hope to carry out joint research cooperation, technology transfer, and assembly.
