This evening, I together with Minister of Health and also Minister of Public Works and Public Housing deliberately inspect the readiness of the Hajj Dormitory in Pondok Gede to become a hospital for handling COVID-19 in anticipation of a surge in the COVID-19 spread in Jakarta and its surroundings.
We have prepared 900 beds plus 50 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 40 High Care Unit (HCU) in this hajj dormitory. Hence, those who are sick with COVID-19 can later be treated here.
This emergency hospital has been prepared by Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing since yesterday and I have ordered to complete it within two days, so later on Thursday we hope it can be used and is ready for operation.
As for isolation facilities, apart from this hajj dormitory, we have also prepared the Nagrak low-cost apartment in Cilincing with 2,273 beds and the Pasar Rumput low-cost apartment with 3,986 beds. We have also added 1,200 more beds at the Wisma Atlet emergency hospital and we hope this will increase the capacity in the event of a spike. (GWH/MUR)
