Statement of President of the Republic of Indonesia during an Inspection of Mass COVID-19 Vaccination at the Pelindo II – Tanjung Priok Port, 10 June 2021, Jakarta
Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.
Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
This morning, I visited Tanjung Priok Port. As you may be aware, this is the largest and busiest port in Indonesia, serving passenger ships as well as domestic and international cargo ships. It also serves as a very vital transportation infrastucture in distributing logistics in the country.
Therefore, today, this morning, we have vaccinated 1,500 people including port workers, loading-unloading workers, drivers and the assistants, as well as other public servants at the Tanjung Priok Port.
We hope that by having these workers vaccinated, they can be protected from COVID-19. We know that here, the mobility of people, the mobility of goods is very high and therefore the possibility of contracting COVID-19 is also very high, because of both interactions with ship passengers and crew members of the ship. This is what we hope for from the vaccination this morning so as to be protected from COVID-19 transmission.
This concludes my statement.
I thank you.
