Statement of President of the Republic of Indonesia on Cambodia Working Visit at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali Province, November 9, 2022
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Today, the First Lady I and, along with limited entourage, will head to Phnom Penh in Cambodia. I will attend the 40th and the 41st ASEAN Summit and other related summits until November 13, 2022. There will be more than 20 meetings that I have to attend. One of the main issues that will be a concern for Indonesia is Indonesia’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2023.
As all have known, after holding the G20 Presidency, Indonesia will hold the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2023. The theme adopted by Indonesia is ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth.
It is our hope that ASEAN will remain vital and relevant (ASEAN matters). It is also our hope that Southeast Asia will still be an epicentrum of growth. Indeed, it is not an easy task considering that global challenges, global uncertainties will still be enormous in 2023. Moreover, ASEAN also faces internal issue related to Myanmar’s situation.
Insyaallah, I will return to Bali on November 13, 2022 in the evening and participate in series of the G20 Summit.
That concludes my speech on this auspicious occasion. I thank you. (AP/LW)
