President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo expressed his gratitude to all village apparatus, as well as the officers of Indonesian National Defence Forces (TNI) and Indonesian National Police (Polri) who secured simultaneous regional elections (pilkada) last month. This was enunciated by the President at an event “Enhancing the Capacity of Village Administration and Village Community Institution of 2018” in Graha Pradipta Jogja Expo Center (JEC), Yogyakarta, Wednesday (25/7).

On that occasion, the President also asked village apparatus to explain about radicalism and terrorism to the community as well as to oversee them so that no one in the village involve with radicalism and terrorism activities.

Village Funds

Regarding village funds, the President explained that the Government disbursed Rp20 trillion in 2015, Rp47 trillion in 2016, and Rp60 trillion in 2017 and 2018 respectively.

“Rp187 trillion in 4 years is a huge amount. Therefore, the use of funds must be on target. Use the funds to carry out activities needed by the village, for example, road and irrigation constructions or other productive activities,” the President added. When the village receives the funds, materials for the constructions must be bought from sellers in the village not in the city in order to maintain money circulation in the village.

Also present on the event were Minister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Villages, Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration Eko Putro Sandjojo, Governor of Special Region of Yogyakarta Sultan Hamengkubuwono X. (DNA/EN) (MMB/YM/Naster)
