images-5-1-300x217 (1)To anticipate the returning flow of mudik (annual exodus), Minister of Transportation asked the operators of trucks to start to operate on Monday (3/7) at 00.00 Western Indonesia Time. Previously, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, on Thursday (29/6), thorugh Circular Letter of Directorate General of Land Transportation, has prohibited trucks to operate 4 days before and after Eid-al- Fitr.

Afterwards, the Minister, through the Director General of Land Transportation, has sent a letter to Head of Traffic Police Corps of Indonesian National Police on trucks operation after Eid-al-Fitr. The content of the letter are, among others, traffic management through traffic flow diversion and car park setting.

“If congestion occurs on certain road because the trucks have operated, the police can direct them to parking spots so they can wait until the congestion is over. The Minister asked the operators to understand the Government’s decision. It was made to ensure smoothness of the returning flow.

“I should announce that until Sunday, there will be an interuption to the trucks going from the east to west. It will be better if they can wait until Monday,” the Minister said.

Appreciation from Association

Minister Budi Karya Sumadi appreciated the operators who support that Government’s policy. “We appreciate the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (Kadin) as well as trucks association that support us,” the Minister said.

The Minister said that the flow of vehicles from east to west has increased as the vehicles are queuing at toll road.

To anticipate this problem, the Minister has spoked with trucks assocation, Indonesian Forwarding and Logistics Association, Kadin, and related private business people to manage the operational of trucks at the peak of the returning flow.
