Turkish President Erdoğan Welcomes President Prabowo upon Arrival in Ankara for Working Visit

President Prabowo Subianto was welcomed by President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan upon his arrival at Esenboğa International Airport in the Turkish capital of Antara on Wednesday (04/09) at around 19:00 local time.

The two leaders shook hands and embraced near the airstair, signifying their good rapport last seen during President Erdoğan’s visit to Indonesia last February.

Afterward, President Prabowo shook hands with other officials, including Turkish Minister of Defense Yaşar Güler, Governor of Ankara Vasip Şahin, Garrison Commander Mayor General Ahmet Kurumahmut, and Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to the Republic of Indonesia Talip Küçükcan.

Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Republic of Türkiye Achmad Rizal Purnama and Defense Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Ankara Colonel Ctp. Ari Maryadi also welcomed President Prabowo at the airport.

President Prabowo and President Erdoğan then walked through the honor guard to the waiting room while the national song “Hari Merdeka” was being played during the welcoming procession.

The two leaders conversed for a while at the airport waiting room until President Prabowo left for the hotel where he would stay during his visit to Ankara. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (DH/LW)
