Wae Kelambu Port Revitalization Project to be Completed by End of This Year
Labuan Bajo’s Wae Kelambu Port revitalization project is scheduled to be finished by the end of this year, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has stated.
“Insya Allah (God willing) the Wae Kelambu Port project will be completed by the end of this year. In the meantime, the old Labuan Bajo Port will also be renovated with a brand new design,” President Jokowi said during his visit to the project site in East Nusa Tenggara province, Monday (20/1).
The President explained that the Labuan Bajo Port will have major renovation equipped with hotels, a plaza, pedestrian walks, an amphitheater, and other modern facilities.
“The area will become a public space where people can enjoy morning and afternoon view of Labuan Bajo,” President Jokowi said, adding that all projects will be finished on time based on target.
For the record, the old Labuan Bajo Port was originally used for both logistics and ferry port. Following the revitalization, the port is targeted for tourists only, while the new Wae Kelambu Port – which is located 15 kilometers away from Labuan Bajo Port – will serve as a logistics port. (UN/EN)
