President Prabowo Subianto has reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to maintaining an independent and active foreign policy amid the increasingly complex dynamics of global conflicts.

The President conveyed this statement in his remarks at the inauguration ceremony, which was held via hybrid video conference, of 218 bridges in Hambalang, Bogor Regency, West Java Province, Monday (03/09).

“Our nation is on the right track. We are steadfast in our impartiality, committed to the principles of freedom and non-alignment. Indonesia does not seek to join any bloc. We respect all powers and all nations. That is who we are,” the President stated.

The Head of State also noted that the world is currently facing a period of heightened uncertainty due to ongoing conflicts in several regions, noting that the growing regional tensions serve as a clear reflection of today’s increasingly challenging global landscape.

“Wars are breaking out across the world, particularly in the Middle East. Not long ago, we witnessed a major war in Europe, in Ukraine. Now, nearly the entire Middle East is affected. Although we are geographically distant, our world has truly become a much smaller place,” he said.

According to the President, Indonesia’s stance of non-alignment reflects the nation’s core values, which emphasize diversity and unity.

He added that the principle of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, which is the foundation of national life, is also embodied in the way Indonesia fosters relations with countries around the world.

“We respect all nations, religions, races, and ethnic groups. This spirit of respect allows Indonesia to enjoy peace today. Despite our hundreds of ethnic groups, we are able to live side by side in harmony,” the President concluded. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (EP/LW)
