In a bid to comprehensively strengthen Indonesia’s air defense system, President Prabowo Subianto on Monday (05/18) handed over TNI’s Primary Weaponry Defense System (Alutsista) units to the members of Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI), at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta.

The handed over alutsista consisted of six MRCA Rafale aircrafts, four Falcon 8X aircrafts, one Airbus A400M (MRTT configuration), one Meteor missile, six Hammer smart weapons, and one GCI GM403 radar.

During the handover ceremony, President Prabowo removed the curtain covering the logo of the 12th Air Squadron on the front of the Rafale aircraft. Afterwards, the President performed a symbolic water blessing ceremony by sprinkling water on the front of the aircraft.

The ceremony continued with the symbolic presentation of the aircraft key by President Prabowo to the Commander of the Indonesian National Defense Forces, General Agus Subiyanto. Following that, the Commander handed over the key to the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Air Force, Air Chief Marshal M. Tonny Harjono.

“We just received more alutsista for the air force. We received six Rafale aircrafts, Falcon cargo aircrafts, VIP transport aircraft, and the Airbus A400M, as well as a radar,” the President said.

The weaponry defense system marked the Government’s strategic measures in building an integrated air force power. Previously, one Airbus A400M had been handed over to the TNI in November 2025. This aircraft has since be used to strengthen of Indonesian Air Force in various operations.

The MRCA Rafale aircraft will strengthen Indonesian Air Force’s air-to-air and air-to-ground combat capabilities through the support of long-range meteor missiles and Hammer munitions.

Meanwhile, the Falcon 8X aircraft will support strategic mobility, command missions, and surveillance. The Airbus A400M will play an important role in strengthening strategic airlift capability and in-flight refueling capacity.

In addition, GCI GM403 radar serves as an early warning detection system against air threats. This radar also helps direct fighter aircraft toward targets that violate Indonesia’s air sovereignty.
