President Prabowo Subianto and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, on Monday (04/13), reaffirmed their commitment to deepening strategic relations during a meeting at the Kremlin, Moscow, highlighting expanded cooperation in key sectors such as energy, space, and education amid global dynamics.

“I believe that Your Excellency’s visit is very meaningful and of great importance, especially amid the current global situation and development, and also in terms of enhancing bilateral cooperation, particularly in the economic sector,” President Putin said.

President Putin stated that relations between the two countries continue to develop consistently and are becoming increasingly stronger, especially following the agreement of the strategic partnership declaration between Indonesia and Russia in 2025.

“I am very pleased that we are taking steps that add significant meaning and substance to the relations between our two countries,” he said.

In addition, President Putin underscored the development of economic and trade cooperation, one of the pillars of the bilateral relations. He noted that trade between Indonesia and Russia has increased significantly, reaching 12 percent.

“At the beginning of this year, we witnessed a slight decline in bilateral trade, but we have various measures to improve it. We attach great importance to the joint intergovernmental commission, and we hope that in today’s meeting, Your Excellency, we will have the opportunity to explore various solutions to continue bolstering the partnership between our two countries,” he said.

On this occasion, President Putin also emphasized that the two countries continue to prioritize enhanced cooperation in several strategic sectors that are considered critical to bilateral relations. He added that both sides have thoroughly discussed numerous opportunities to expand cooperation.

“We’ve discussed cooperation in these sectors such as energy, space, agriculture, industrial production, and pharmaceuticals. We attach great importance to developing cooperation in the humanitarian sector, including education,” President Putin said.

President Putin also highlighted the close coordination between the two countries’ foreign ministries in various international forums. He also stated that Indonesia’s BRICS membership opens up new and broader opportunities for strategic collaboration, including within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

This meeting marks Indonesia and Russia’s strong commitment to moving forward not only as bilateral partners but as collaborative forces in driving global stability and progress. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (FI/MMB)
