Prabowo Subianto, on Thursday (02/19) expressed optimism regarding the progress of humanitarian and peace efforts in Gaza and noted that several advances have been achieved, particularly in the distribution of humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza. The statement was delivered during a press briefing with media representatives in Washington, D.C.

Alhamdulillah, it went well and smoothly. We see progress that has been achieved,” the President said.

He emphasized that humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza is currently at one of its highest levels in recent years.

“I believe the entry of food and essentials aids for the people of Gaza is at its highest in several years. Food is sufficient, and other necessities are entering,” he added.

Nevertheless, President Prabowo reminded that significant challenges remain ahead, including achieving peace and other obstacles that require strong determination and vigilance.

“This is very serious. Although we are determined for this to succeed because it brings hope and peace, I also mentioned in my brief statement that there are still many difficulties ahead, many obstacles and challenges,” he stated.

President Prabowo reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment, alongside other Muslim-majority countries, to push for sustainable peace for the Palestinian people.

“We must be determined to achieve success for the sake of the Palestinian people. We are committed—earlier several Muslim countries reaffirmed our commitment to truly achieving lasting peace,” he stressed.

The President reiterated that a two-state solution is the only viable path toward long-term peace. “For us, the real, the only long-lasting solution is a two-state solution,” he affirmed.

In the context of Indonesia’s support for stabilization and peace efforts, President Prabowo also expressed Indonesia’s readiness to contribute to an international mission.

Regarding the timeline, he indicated that the deployment of an initial group could take place soon. “Perhaps advance groups could be sent in the near future, maybe within the next one to two months,” he said.

The President further confirmed that Indonesia has been requested to serve as Deputy Commander within the mission structure. “Yes, they asked us to be the Deputy Commander,” he noted.

President Prabowo’s commitment underscores Indonesia’s consistent “independent and active” foreign policy, which prioritizes humanitarian values and positions Indonesia as a strategic partner in promoting just and sustainable peace in the Middle East. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (RD/LW)
