President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Monday (22/4) chaired a limited meeting on Budget Availability and Indicative Ceiling for the 2020 Fiscal Year at the Presidential Office, Jakarta.

In his directives, the President said that challenges that the Government will encounter next year are expected to intensify and it will not be easy to respond to them.

“We must anticipate the dynamics of the global economy that rapidly changes and continues to shift,” he said.

The President also said that the key is to strengthen the country’s economic endurance and competitiveness. Therefore, the President underscored that the 2020 State Budget must be able to provide a stimulus to boost exports and investment, as well as to reach quality and equitable economic growth.

As for the formulation of the 2020 Indicative Ceiling, the President revealed that it is earmarked for sustainable development by focusing on strengthening of human resources and social protection, and completing what had begun in 2019.

The budget plan for 2020, he added, must also be made in detail and in accordance with development priorities and most importantly, it can be implemented and the results can be measured. (FID/EN/JAY/ES)
