Lagarde Impressed by Tanah Abang Market and BPJS Kesehatan

Managing Director of International Monetary Fund (IMF) Christine Lagarde who was invited by President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo to visit Tanah Abang Market, Jakarta, was impressed by this market.

“I’m really impressed by this market because it represents the power of textile trade and women empowerment. There are a lot of women in this market that is also part of the economy of Indonesia,” Lagarde told the journalists after blusukan (an impromptu visit) to Tanah Abang wholesale market, on Monday (26/2) afternoon. She also has told President Jokowi that Indonesia’s economy,which supported by consumption, investment, and export, runs well.

The Managing Director was also impressed by reform program led by President Jokowi, in particular simplification of regulation for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) that next month can register their business in one place with one registration.

She really hopes President Jokowi and his team will continue the good achievement in infratructure, education, and social affairs sectors,” Lagarde said and added that she believes the progress will continue because the current global economy is much better until next year. Therefore,  this condition must be conducive for a more balance economy.

On her next visit to Indonesia for a meeting in Bali next October, she hopes that there will be more women labors. The IMF is really looking forward to this meeting. They will come though Mount Agung spits ash into the sky.

Service of BPJS Kesehatan is Fantastic

In the meantime, after visiting and seeing the services ofthe Social Security Provider Body for the Health(BPJS Kesehatan) with President Jokowi in Pertamina Hospital, Jakarta, Monday (26/2) morning, Christine Lagarde admitted that she is really impressed withthis health service which provided to all Indonesian people.

“Having more than 90 million members who have access to free health services is a fantastic achievement,” Lagarde said. She was also impressed by Pertamina Hospital that she had just visited.
