At the moment, Indonesia continues to gain international recognition and trust for its economic reforms. This was enunciated by President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo at the opening of the National Executive Meeting of Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI) in Tangerang, Banten, on Wednesday (7/3).

“For the first time in 20 years, Indonesia received investment grade rating from three international rating agencies. It’s a trust. Just like when we build a business, trust is number one,” the President said and added that these ratings were granted by Moody’s, Fitch Rating, and Standard & Poor’s.<>

The President also explained that when the World Bank conducted a survey of Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) in 2014, Indonesia was at rank 120. Now, it jumped 48 positions to rank 72.

This position, however, must be improved this year and the President has told the Coordinating Minister for the Economy.

People must not aware nor do not know that Indonesia enters a very special group, namely Trillion Dollar Club. It consists of countries whose GDP reaches USD1 trillion per year. There are only 16 countries in the world that join the Club.

Since Indonesia has managed to enter the Club, it should not ask for help from other countries. Instead, it is time for Indonesia to help others.

Also joining the President on that occasion were the Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Bambang Soesatyo, Speaker of Regional Representatives Council (DPD) Oesman Sapta, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Darmin Nasution, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister of Trade Enggartiasto Lukita, Minister of Education and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, Governor of Banten Wahidin Halim, and Chairman of HIPMI Bahlil Lahadilia.(DNS/RAH/EN)(MMB/YM/Naster)
