Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung Inaugurates Wijaya Kusuma Bridge in Kediri
Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung inaugurated Wijaya Kusuma Bridge, located in Kediri Regency, East Java on Tuesday (29/5). The bridge that stretches over Brantas River is expected to improve the economy of the people of Kediri.
This bridge hopefully can improve peoples welfare around Kediri Regency, the Cabinet Secretary delivers his remarks at the inauguration of Wijaya Kusuma Bridge.
The bridge, according to Pramono, connects western and eastern areas of the river, specifically Mojo District and Ngadiluwih District. Hopefully, people in western area can easily distribute their crops, trade goods and agricultural products to other areas.
Pramono Anung also said that the bridges construction is his dream since he was a Member of Parliament representing electoral district of Kediri. Furthermore, the bridge construction cannot be materialized without the consent of President Joko Jokowi Widodo who does have special attention to infrastructure development and connectivity in Indonesia. I would like to express my utmost gratitude to the President; all of this cannot be realized without his consent to build this bridge, Pramono said.
Wijaya Kusuma Bridge spans along 180 meters with 7 meters width and 1 meter of sidewalks each on both sides of the bridge. It was funded by the State Budget (APBN) amounting to Rp32.7 billion.
The bridge, which construction began in May last year, not only connecting areas in Kediri but it is also expected to ease access to Wilis Mountain circle which includes Kediri, Tulungagung, Blitar, and Trenggalek.
The name of this bridge itself, according to Pramono, is taken from the name of Wijaya Kusuma flowers, which was favored by his mother and Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljonos father.
I hope this bridge will become a symbol of the blessing of God for the people in Kediri Regency and Kediri City. This is our prayer for our late parents who raised us, hopefully what we are doing is beneficial to all of us and to our ancestors, the Cabinet Secretary concluded.
