Asian Games 2018: Eko Yuli Wins Fifth Gold for Indonesia
Indonesia has secured another gold medal after weightlifter Eko Yuli Irawan won in the 62-kilogram men’s weightlifting competition at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, on Tuesday (21/08).
I am happy with the result as I was able to fulfill expectations, Eko said.
Eko, who won a silver medal in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Brazil Olympic, lifted 311 kilograms 141 kilograms in the snatch and 170 kilograms in the clean-and-jerk. He was 12 kilograms above Vietnamese Trinh Van Vinh, while Uzbekistan’s Adkhamjon Ergashev was in third, having lifted 298 kilograms.
In the previous editions of the Asian Games in 2010 and 2014, Eko won one bronze medal each.
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo was watching the competition at the venue and presented medals to the winners.
In addition to the gold medal from Eko Yuli, Indonesian contingent on Tuesday also clinched a bronze medal from wushu exponent Ahmad Hulaefi who ranked third in Daoshu-Gunshu All Around. (*ES) (STU/EP/Naster)
