Asian Games: Indonesia Secures 20 Gold Medals; Target Exceeded

Pencak Silat is truly a gold mine for Indonesia in the 2018 Asian Games.

After earlier presenting three gold medals in the final round held at Padepokan Pencak Silat, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), Jakarta, Monday (27/8), the sports branch once again added 4 more golds for the host nation.

The four additional gold medals were each clinched by Komang Harik Adi Putra, Iqbal Candra Pratama, Sarah Tria Monita, and Abdul Malik.

Komang Harik Adi Putra bagged the 17^th gold on men’s singles number E (65-70 kg) with a score of 4-1, defeated his opponent Mohd. Jamari from Malaysia, who walked out just seconds before the fight was over. The 18^th gold was presented by Iqbal Candra Pratama who won men’s single number D (60-65 kg). He defeated his opponent Noch Toan Nguyen from Vietnam.

Meanwhile, the 19^th gold medal was gained by Sarah Tria Monita on women’s single number C (55-60 kg), after defeating Laos’s Nong Oy Vongphakdy. Abdul Malik won the 20^th gold from men’s single number B (50-55 kg). Abdul Malik defeated his opponent, Malaysian pencak silat exponent M. Nasir Muhammad Faizul.

Thus, until this news was published, Indonesia has bagged 20 gold medals, 14 silver medals and 26 bronze medals and in the 4^th position in the Asian Games medal tally, replacing Iran who is currently the 5^th.
