Czech Republic Offers Cooperation in Education, Energy Sectors

The Czech Republic has offered scholarships for Indonesian students, especially medical students, to study in the country, according to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs AM Fachir.

“The Czech Republic offers scholarships for Indonesian students, especially medical students, to study there,” Fachir said after accompanying President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo in a meeting with delegates of the Senate of the Czech Republic led by its President Milan Št?ch, at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Monday (17/9).

Fachir added that the Czech Republic Senate delegates also offered cooperation on energy secotor– especially hydro power –, automotive sector, and health sector. “President Jokowi said that Indonesia will cooperate with the Czech Republic in automotive sector which will involve 4.0 industry,“ Fachir said, adding that Indonesia also seeks to cooperate with Czech to strengthen the national health system since Indonesia has provided health insurance for 186 million people.

Fachir added the President during the meeting also praised the Czech Republic for its support in the nomination of Indonesia as a non-permanent member in the UN Security Council and expressed support for cooperation between the Czech Parliament and the Indonesian Parliament to promote pluralism and tolerance, as well as to boost economic growth.

Furthermore, President Jokowi also sought the Czech Republic’s support for Indonesian palm oil products to save 17 million Indonesian farmers in palm oil industry and expressed hope that the Czech Republic can support the completion of the Indonesia-EU-CEPA agreement, Fachir said.  (FID/JAY/ES) (RI/EP/Naster)
