Youth Must Dare to Compete Outside Indonesia, Cabinet Secretary Says
Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung shared that he was lucky to have experiences as Chairman of the Student Council during his student years at junior high school and senior high school, and Chairman of the Student Association as well as Chairman of the Student Council at ITB (Bandung Institute of Technology).
Those experiences shaped me into a person with great organizational and social skills and broad views because I learned so much from the organizations. Thus, I am really lucky to forge those experiences since very young age, Cabinet Secretary said in an interview to commemorate the Youth Pledge (Sumpah Pemuda), at Cabinet Secretary Office, Ministry of State Secretariat Building III, Jakarta, Friday (26/10).
However, the Cabinet Secretary reminded all that the youth in each different era has different challenges and obstacles than the previous generation.
The current generation also known as millennials has also different challenges and roles. In this era, the youth must not only dare on their own turfs, they must explore the other side of the world which has changed, as well as the technology, Pramono firmly said.
According to the Cabinet Secretary, Indonesian youth is expected to play important role and compete with other countries in this borderless world.
That is what we expect because Indonesia is a member of G20 countries that is capable as an established democratic country. Therefore, the roles of the youth and millennials are really important, he further said.
Regarding human resources aspect, Pramono Anung explained that in the first three years of Jokowi and Jusuf Kallas Administration, the Government focused on infrastructure developmemt, but in the past two years they have been focusing to face demographic bonus that is projected to occur in 2030-2040.
In that consideration, the Cabinet Secretary said that the demographic bonus must be our modal rather than liability. He believes that it can be materialized as democratic process in this country runs smoothly.
Pramono added that Indonesian Government, regardless the President is, will bring this country to top 4 or 5 in the most powerful country in the worlds ranking.
This is the role of the youth because failure or success of a country relies heavily on them, Cabinet Secretary concluded. (DNA/AGG/ES)
