Transportation Minister Inspects Rest Areas in Java Toll Road
Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi on Saturday (29/12) visited a rest area located at the 207-kilometer point of Palimanan – Kanci Toll Road in Cirebon City to inspect the readiness of the facility in welcoming the growing number of travelers during year-end holiday.
For the record, there are 61 rest areas spread along the Trans Java Toll Road (one rest area for every fifteen kilometers) and this figure is considered sufficient to facilitate travelers to take rest during their trip.
However, Budi ordered state-owned toll road operator PT Jasa Marga to expand the parking space in the existing rest areas to increase capacity at high traffic, such as the Eid, Christmas and New Year holiday seasons.
On that occasion, the Minister also introduced the Trans Java Culinary Map published by the Directorate General of Land Transportation.
According to Budi, the map is expected to generate economic growth in cities along the Trans Java Toll Road through culinary business. This effort is in line with instruction of President Joko Jokowi Widodo, that is to create connectivity, which gives benefits to the community, Budi added.
After visiting the rest area, Budi also visited Type A Terminal Tegal City to conduct a bus ramp check and a urine test for bus drivers as well as to inspect the terminal that will be revamped in January.
