President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and First Lady Ibu Iriana Joko Widodo attended the Millennial Safety Road Declaration at Ampera Bridge, Palembang, South Sumatra, Saturday (9/3).

The event was attended by young generation of Palembang and was held under the theme “Millennial Generation for Road Safety: Towards a Developed Indonesia”.

On the event, the Declaration of Road Safety Pioneer was read by Muhammad Andre Anto Wibisono. The declaration reads:

Declaration

“We are millennial generation:

First, we are generation who cares for road safety.

Second, we fully support the programs of the Indonesian National Police in maintaining road security and safety.

Third, we are ready to be a pioneer of road safety.

Stop violation. Stop accident. Safety for humanity.

In his remarks, President Jokowi called on young generation to obey all traffic laws and bring driving license and documents while driving.

Also present during the event were Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Coordinator of Special Staff to the President Teten Masduki and Governor of South Sumatra Herman Deru. (UN/EN)
