The recently concluded elections were held based on rules and regulations as well as mechanisms regulated in the Election Law, President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo has said.

“The law was agreed upon at the House of Representative,” President Jokowi said during an iftar dinner in Jakarta, Sunday (19/5).

According to the President, as a country that adheres to good democratic principles, Indonesia must stick to the prevailing regulations, including in resolving election-related disputes. “If you find any violation (regarding elections), please report them to Bawaslu (the Election Supervisory Agency). For more severe violations, please report them to the Constitutional Court,” he said.

President Jokowi also expressed hopes that those who are unsatisfied with the election results will be willing to provide good political and democratic examples by obeying the rules. “This is not the first time we held elections,” he added. (BPMI Setpres/ES)
