President Jokowi Inspects Mass Vaccination at Police Headquarters
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo inspected a national COVID-19 vaccination event held during the Commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of the National Police (Bahayangkara) Day, at the Headquarters of the Indonesian National Police, Jakarta, Saturday (26/6).
Upon arrival at 09.50 a.m., President Jokowi which was accompanied by Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, TNI Commander Hadi Tjahjanto, National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and Head of COVID-19 Handling Task Force Ganip Warsito observed the vaccination processes, starting from registration, health screening tests, to the injection of the vaccine.
In addition to vaccination held at the National Police Headquarter, similar event was also held at 34 regional police headquarters across the country.
“Let me extend my highest appreciation to all regional heads, regional police chiefs, territorial military commanders (Pangdam), governors, regents, mayors for this mass vaccination which is held simultaneously through cooperation with regional governments in all regional police headquarters and regional military command (Kodam),” the President said.
He went on to say that the Government’s target to inject one million doses of vaccines per day should be realized until next month, while the target will be increased to two million doses in August.
On that occasion, a number of regional police chiefs in a teleconference with the President expressed their commitments to meet the target of injecting two million doses of vaccine per day in their respective regions.
The President also instructed Minister of Health to ensure the availability of vaccine supply in order to speed up the national vaccination program.
He also told Central Java Regional Police Chief to prioritize the handling of COVID-19 cases in Kudus Regency that reported spikes in COVID-19 cases.
“As of today, active cases in Kudus decreased to 1,785 people from the previous 2,480. In addition, BOR (Bed Occupancy Ratio) also declined to 84 percent,” the Regional Police Chief said. (TGH/UN) (RAS/LW)
