The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) officially launched the official logo for the U-17 World Cup or FIFA U-17 World Cup Indonesia 2023 on FIFA+, Friday (09/01). This major junior level tournament, which will be participated by 24 countries, is planned to be held on November 10-December 2.

The logo of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Indonesia 2023 is inspired by the colors of the Indonesian national flag, the turquoise sea and its currents that flow across the archipelago. Meanwhile, the crown with the image of the ball represents the global passion for the game that is loved all over the world.

The launch gave fans and players around the world a glimpse of the experiences, colors, diversity and festive spirit of a tournament held in Indonesia, which is now the heart of Southeast Asia.

“It is an honor for us to be trusted to hold the world football championship for future generations of footballers. With 73 percent of the Indonesian population who are football fans, I am optimistic that the FIFA U-17 will be successful and bring many fans to the stadium. Moreover, this is the first time Indonesia has appeared in an event at World Cup level. We definitely welcome it with great enthusiasm,” said General Chairperson of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Erick Thohir, quoted from the website of Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Indonesia, which is making its debut at the FIFA U-17 World Cup Indonesia 2023, will certainly be proud. By relying on a mass base of fanatical football fans, Indonesia will show high enthusiasm to the world community. On the other hand, this is a rare opportunity for the Garuda Muda Team to compete with world-class teams.

Bacuya (Light Horn Rhinoceros) will become the mascot of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Indonesia 2023 tournament. This horned rhino refers to the name of an animal native to Indonesia. Bacuya is expected to play an important role in inviting the public to come to the stadium to see the young footballers compete.

Bacuya’s philosophy is that young Javanese rhinos are very shy and quiet. Despite these characteristics, his curiosity forced him to run fast in the field as if he wanted to look for something. The feel of green grass motivated him until he discovered football. Suddenly something extraordinary happened. His horns lit up with new colors and this moment has transformed the Bacuya.

Every time he plays football with someone, Bacuya’s horns will shine brighter. The energy that football gives to people is the same energy that illuminates Bacuya. Bacuya is an advocate for the rights of young people to have fun and express themselves. He is a young talent guard and a beacon for the future of football. Bacuya is ready to rise with the new generation.

The FIFA expressed hope that this tournament can display quality matches and generate extraordinary interest from football fans all over the world. Moreover, the FIFA U-17 World Cup Indonesia 2023 is a medium to train the future big stars.

As a host, Indonesia automatically gets a place to compete in the U-17 World Cup finals. Occupying Group A, the Red-White Team is now waiting for the potential opponents they will face in the draw in Switzerland on September 15, 2023.
