Cabinet Secretariat Holds Coordination Meeting of Ministry/Institutions Expert Staff on Economy
In order to improve synergies and cooperation in the process of bureaucratic management with the aim to facilitate the achievement of policy and economic development programs, Secretariat Cabinet held a Coordination Meeting of Expert Staff of the Ministry/Institution (K/L) on Economy, at the Multipurpose Hall of the Ministry of State Secretariat, Jakarta, on Tuesday (1/9).
In his opening speech, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung said that the meeting aimed to increase the role of expert staff, to become expert staff not only for themself but also for an institutional expert, an expert in the interest of the nation.
Cabinet Secretary expressed hope that what has become the desires, hopes and also the mindset of the President can also be assessed by the expert staff at each Ministry.
“The President really thinks about how to speed up the infrastructure and agriculture issues. This has become the Presidents concerns amidst the pressure, turbulence facing the world economy,” Pramono said.
On the occasion, Pramono went on to say that today’s economy grew about 4.7% and is experiencing slowdown. Meanwhile, the US dollar exchange rate is at around Rp 14,000.
He further explained that Indonesia is not the only country which is experiencing economic slowdown but the world as well. Even in the ASEAN region, Indonesia is deemed as having good durability besides Singapore. Meanwhile, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and some other countries are experiencing a sharp decline
Although the economic slowdown, Cabinet Secretary believes that the targets of infrastructure development, for example, the construction of 49 new reservoirs will be achieved.
“Some problems still persist but in building infrastructure, there should be the courage to decide,” Cabinet Secretary explained.
Cabinet Secretary went on to explain that expert staff in the field of economy should be able to change the mindset at their respective institution to follow the wishes of the President.
“Staff expert in their respective Ministry/Institution must be able to participate and assist the President and the Ministers to realize the aspirations and desires of this Government,” Cabinet Secretary said.
On the occasion, Expert Staff for Economic Affairs and Social Welfare, Cabinet Secretariat, M. Amperawan said that the President gave a task to the expert staff to actively provide recommendations on strategic issues despite the limited capacity and resources, both human resources and budget.
As an element of government, we should provide input to the President in order to facilitate the task. And in order to assist the President, we should at least contribute our thoughts in order to improve national economy,” M. Amperawan said.
M. Amperawan expressed hope that in the future there is a useful forums for the expert staff who are present at the event.
Attending the forum were 18 expert staff in charge of the economy from the Coordinating Ministry of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Ministry of Public Works and Housing, Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises, Ministry of Agricultural and Spatial Planning, and the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises.
