Indonesia Ready to Host Oslo Forum, President Jokowi Says
President Joko Jokowi Widodo met with Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg on the first day of the Leaders Event at the UN Climate Conference ?COP 21 in Paris, France on Monday (30/11).
During the meeting, President Jokowi and his Norwegian counterpart agreed to promote cooperation in the framework of REDD+.
Indonesia is committed to reducing emission by 29% below business as usual scenario in 2030 and by 41 percent with assistance from the international community, the President said quoted from the press release of member of the Presidential Communication Team Ari Dwipayana on Monday (30/11).
In the meantime, Prime Minister Solberg expressed her appreciation for the President Jokowis willingness to accept offer to become Co-Convener Financing for Education.
It is certainly not an easy task but we believe with experiences that Indonesia has had so far, the Prime Minister said.
On that occasion, President Jokowi also stressed the importance of close cooperation in conflict resolution within the context of the Oslo Forum.
Indonesia is positively considering hosting Oslo Forum Asia in 2016, the President said.
For the record, the Oslo Forum is widely acknowledged as the leading international network of conflict mediation practitioners co-hosted by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Humanitarian Dialog Center (HDC).
At the end of the talk, President Jokowi and Prime Minister Solberg also agreed to continue cooperation in the fisheries sector with priorities on combating Illegal Unreported Unregulated Fishing, development of fishery industries and management of sustainable fisheries. (ES) (EP/YM/Naster)
