President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on 21 June 2018 signed Government Regulation Number 24 of 2018 on Integrated Electronic Services for Business Permits to boost investment and give ease for doing business.

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Darmin Nasution said that with the issuance of this Government Regulation, the provisions stipulated in the regulation will come into force as of the date of its enactment.

“From now on, business permits submitted before the regulation takes effect and has not been issued will be processed through an integrated electronic service for business permits, or Online Single Submission (OSS),” Darmin said during the Dissemination of the Launching of OSS System at Borobudur Hotel, Jakarta, Friday (29/6).

For permits issued before this Regulation takes effect and require new permit for the sake of business development, it will also be processed through OSS system, Darmin said. He added that just like every citizen that must have national identification number, every entity or individual doing business must also have business identification number.

“However, the most important thing is that permit system applied at ministries/institutions and regional government can still accept new permission submissions,” the Minister said, adding that new permits will be issued through OSS system, yet ministries/institutions and regional government can still accept new permissions submission.

Darmin explained that the system is ready and is to be launched by the President. He added that once the system is launched (go-live), prospective entrepreneurs and investors can not only visit an OSS Lounge and One-stop Integrated Service (PTSP) outlets, but can also apply for business permits anytime and anywhere through www.oss.go.id.
