April 1 Declared as National Broadcasting Day

31maretPresident Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on March 29, 2019 signed a Presidential Decree Number 9 of 2019 on National Broadcasting Day.

The decision was made with the consideration that in Solo, Central Java Province, Solosche Radio Vereeniging (SRV) was established as the Indonesian Radio Broadcasting Institute which initiated by Mangkunegoro VII on April 1, 1933.

In addition, broadcasting stakeholders in 2010 also declared the National Broadcasting Day on April 1 with the aim of manifesting the stipulation of National Broadcasting Day so that the Government deems it necessary to declare National Broadcasting Day. “April 1 is stipulated as the National Broadcasting Day,” reads the FIRST dictum of the Presidential Decree.

Nevertheless, according to this Decree, National Broadcasting Day is not a public holiday.

“This Presidential Decree shall take effect from the date of its stipulation,” reads the third dictum of the Presidential Decree Number 9 of 2019 which was stipulated on March 29, 2019. (Pusdatin / ES)
