COVID-19 Situation Under Control: President Jokowi
Following a slight increase in the number of cases recently, COVID-19 pandemic situation in Indonesia is still under control, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has said.
“The situation is under control. I’ve ordered [relevant stakeholders] to pay attention to the slight increase. The increase occurred because three weeks or a month ago we had an Eid holiday session,” the President said in a press conference after inaugurating the Rumpin Nursery in Bogor regency, West Java province, Friday (06/10).
For the record, data from Ministry of Health shows that the positivity rate in Indonesia stands at 1.15 percent, lower than the standard set by the World Health Organization (WHO) of 5 percent.
Apart from the positivity rate, another indicator, namely the transmission rate, is still under control and is far below the WHO standard. The WHO standard for the transmission rate is 20 per 100,000 population per week, while the current transmission rate in Indonesia, according to data from the Ministry, stands at 1.03 per 100,000 population per week.
On that occasion, the President also urged the public to remain vigilant in dealing with COVID-19 pandemic situation. The President also emphasized the importance of booster vaccination for communities.
“The situation is still under control, yet we must stay vigilant. To that end, I reiterate the importance of booster vaccine, and we will continue to carry out vaccination drive for the third dose,” the President remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (RI/MUR)
