Corn plantation in a food estate in Keerom regency, Papua province has brought hopes to local farmers.

According to Dorteis, a local farmer, the plantation made a big change to local farmers.

President Joko “Jokowi Widodo Tuesday (03/21) planted corn seeds using agricultural machinery with farmers at a food estate in Keerom regency, Papua province.

Dorteis also expressed hope that plantations in the food estate can improve people’s empowerment and boost their income.

Echoing a similar sentiment, another farmer, Monika Ambar, expressed hope that there will be an agricultural product processing factory in the area to facilitate farmers in distributing their agricultural products.

“It would be great if there is a factory here, so we do not have to bother distributing our products to other regions,” she remarked. (BPMI SETPRES/AIT) (DH/MMB)
